ARTE COMO CIÊNCIA é uma franquia de séries documentais que, ao reconhecer todos os campos do conhecimento conectados por colaborações e tensões que geram a complexidade da vida, investiga, do ponto de vista científico, qual o papel social da arte ao dialogar com artistas que constroem sua práxis na articulação entre criação e reflexão. A iniciativa engloba uma série de ENTREVISTAS (2020 e 2021), o especial RAÍZES (2022) e o projeto em desenvolvimento, REVOLUÇÃO ESTÉTICA (2026).
ART AS SCIENCE
ART AS SCIENCE is a documentary series franchise that investigates the social role of art from a scientific perspective by recognizing all fields of knowledge connected through collaborations and tensions that generate life’s complexity. To do so, it engages in dialogue with artists whose praxis lies at the intersection of creation and reflection. The initiative encompasses a series of INTERVIEWS (2020 and 2021), the special ROOTS (2022), and the project currently in development, AESTHETIC REVOLUTION (2026).

Em 2020, em meio à pandemia de COVID-19, nasceu o projeto ARTE COMO CIÊNCIA, refletindo sobre o papel crucial da arte na formação das estruturas sociais por meio de entrevistas com artistas de diversos países. Em 2026, a intenção é retomar os melhores momentos destas entrevistas e transformá-los em uma série que pode ser exibida em plataformas de streaming.
ART AS SCIENCE – INTERVIEWS
In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the project ART AS SCIENCE was created, reflecting on the crucial role of art in shaping social structures through interviews with artists from various countries. In 2026, the intention is to revisit the best moments from these interviews and transform them into a series that can be exhibited on streaming platforms.
ARTE COMO CIÊNCIA - RAÍZES
Em 2022, foi lançada a série Raízes, focada nas trajetórias de artistas com mais de sessenta anos, utilizando exclusivamente materiais de arquivos pessoais, devido à situação de isolamento social resultante da pandemia da COVID-19. No momento de sua produção, o mundo estava sofrendo o luto de perder muitas trajetórias repletas de maturidade, experiência e sabedoria, pois a maioria das vítimas da COVID-19 eram pessoas idosas e, majoritariamente, negras. A série contou, inicialmente, com cinco episódios, sendo que três deles, dedicados às trajetórias de Vera Lopes, Irene Santos e Mestre Pernambuco, pessoas negras de trabalho relevante no Rio Grande do Sul, em abril de 2026, passam a integram o catálogo da Plataforma de Streaming Todes Play (https://todesplay.com.br/). Os demais episódios enfocam os trabalhos de Zé da Terreira e Seli Maurício. A iniciativa tem potencial para gerar novas temporadas.
ART AS SCIENCE – ROOTS
In 2022, the series Roots was launched, focusing on the life trajectories of artists over sixty years old, using exclusively personal archival materials, due to the social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. At the time of its production, the world was mourning the loss of many lives rich in maturity, experience, and wisdom, as most victims of COVID-19 were elderly and predominantly Black.
The series initially consisted of five episodes, three of which—dedicated to the trajectories of Vera Lopes, Irene Santos, and Mestre Pernambuco, Black artists with significant contributions in Rio Grande do Sul—were incorporated, in April 2026, into the catalog of the Todes Play streaming platform (https://todesplay.com.br/). The remaining episodes focus on the work of Zé da Terreira and Seli Maurício. The initiative has the potential to generate new seasons.

ARTE COMO CIÊNCIA - REVOLUÇÃO ESTÉTICA
Em 2026, estamos desenvolvendo a série “Arte como Ciência: Revolução Estética”, baseada no artigo “Democracia estética como a raiz de cidades e comunidades sustentáveis”, da Drª Viviane Juguero, que dialoga com os Objetivos de Desenvolvimento Sustentável da ONU.
Misturando conhecimento científico e realidade cotidiana, a série propõe a utilização de animação, vídeos científicos, criações artísticas e imagens de desastres ambientais para demonstrar que uma revolução estética é essencial para a criação e a manutenção de sociedades sustentáveis.
ART AS SCIENCE – ANTIDOTE
In 2026, we are developing the series Art as Science: Aesthetic Revolution, based on the article “Aesthetic Democracy as the Root of Sustainable Cities and Communities” by Dr. Viviane Juguero, which engages with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Blending scientific knowledge with everyday life, the series ART AS SCIENCE – AESTHETIC REVOLUTION proposes the use of animation, scientific videos, artistic creations, and images of environmental disasters to demonstrate that an aesthetic revolution is essential for the creation and maintenance of sustainable societies.
